Hydroponic System

Journey From Idea to Product

Grow Culture recognized a demand in South Africa for professionally designed, modular hydroponics systems and engaged us to take their concept to a manufacture-ready solution.

Discovery & Rapid Prototyping

We began by reviewing the client’s brief to define key goals and explore design directions. Rapid prototyping started with cardboard cut-outs to test geometry and scale before moving into digital modelling.

We created quick 3D mock-ups from lightweight materials like expanded polystyrene, enabling fast, low-cost iterations and hands-on learning that shaped the final design.

The flexibility of this manufacturing method in volume allowed on-site testing and the collection of valuable feedback, which was quickly incorporated into future iterations.

Short Run Manufacturing & Testing

We selected rotational moulding for its low tooling cost, short lead time, and possibility for small production runs. While typically used for larger sized products, our design expertise and close collaboration with the manufacturer ensured precise tolerances and a successful outcomes using this method.

Manufacturing Strategy

Rotational moulding offered a low-cost and flexible approach, letting the client test and refine the product before full-scale production. This allowed for fast feedback and a design ready to scale.
